Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Green onions, sliced for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sautรฉ until the onions are soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- Once the beef is browned, stir in the rice and mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for about 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed all the liquid.
- Remove the lid and stir in the heavy cream and butter, mixing until the butter is melted and everything is well combined.
- Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese is fully melted and the mixture is creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Once everything is well combined, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using fresh herbs like parsley. Feel free to add vegetables such as bell peppers or peas, or try different types of cheese.
