Ingredients
Scale
- 500 grams ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Wooden skewers (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef or lamb with finely grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and chopped mint. Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle olive oil over the mixture and knead until well combined and slightly sticky.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Preheat grill or broiler to medium-high heat.
- Divide the meat mixture into equal portions and form each portion into a long shape around a skewer or shape them into patties.
- Place kafta on the grill or under the broiler, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through, ensuring internal temperature reaches 70ยฐC (160ยฐF).
- Remove from heat and let kafta rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For the best results, do not overwork the meat mixture; knead just until combined. Preheat grill or broiler for a good sear.
